Whithorn occurs as little burgh in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, about 10 miles south of Wigtown. A town was a location of the number one Christian church in Scotland, the Candida Casa built by Saint Ninian in 397. Fallowing this fell into disrepair, the twelfth century priory was built to replace it, however this as well has hanker been inside ruins. The museum in the town contains archaeological finds from a places.
Whithorn's link to the sea is the seaport known as the Isle of Whithorn, besides linked to St Ninian, & a location of the thirteenth century St Ninian's Church.
